India Yamaha motor Pvt. Ltd announced its entry into the 125cc scooter segment in India with the launch of the 125cc Fascino FI. The new Fascino 125 FI is powered by a newly developed BS-VI compliant fuel injected 125cc Blue Core Engine, that produces 8.2Ps of Power and 9.7Nm of Torque.
The power output is 30% higher and Fuel economy is 16% as compared to the outgoing 113cc motor. The same motor shall also power the upcoming RayZR scooters too. Although Yamaha showcased the 2020 RayZR 125FI at the event, they will launch it at a later stage.
The new Fascino 125FI weighs just 99kgs, 4kg less than the earlier model. The new scooter will come equipped with ‘Start & Stop System’, that prevents engine idling & shuts engine doen when you stop somewhere in traffic and subsequently starts as soon as you twist the throttle, this would prove quite useful for saving fuel. We have seen similar systems in Hero Motocorp lineup also known as the I3s technology.
The new Fascino 125FI will be available in disk & drum variants both, with (UBS) Unified braking system, also known as CBS. Also, the new engine now features a ‘Smart Motor Generator’ (SMG), which uses electronic sensors to start the engine, without the need of a seperate electric starter we have seen conventionally on bikes. The new Fascino is targeted at the young generation aged between 18-25 years who are high on fasion and are performance oriented.
Along with new features & technologies, the Fascino 125FI gets an all new exterior design, newly designed headlight & instrument cluster, that make the product look more elegant. The 2020 Fascino will be available in 7 different color options including Red, black, yellow, Matte blue, Dark Matte blue, Cyan blue and Suave Copper.
The 2020 Fascino 125FI will go on sale starting January2020, and will come with a price tag of Rs.66,430 for the entry level variant, while the top model will cost Rs.69,930.
Moving ahead, Yamaha also today showcased the BS-VI variants of the MT15 and the R15v3. The new color scheme of the MT15 we loved which was displayed at the EICMA has made its way into India now. So the MT15 will now be available in Blue, black and White color options. Though, there aren’t any mechanical changes to the motorcycle, we were expecting a Dual channel ABS on the MT15, but sadly we will have to wait. Pricing of the 2020 MT15 is still not announced, but we expect the launch to happen soon.
Speaking of the R15v3, there aren’t any design or mechanical changes, but the 2020 model will be available in a all new color schemes and the pricing for them is as follows –
Racing Blue -₹1,45,900
Thunder Grey -₹1,45,300
Midnight – ₹1,47,300
The pricing has appreciated by approx Rs.5000 for the R15v3, while we expect the MT15 to have a similar price badge like before. This will help Yamaha clearly differentiate both the products in terms of pricing, which wasn’t the case earlier
