Volkswagen Tiguan production commences in Aurangabad
The European giant of car manufacturers, Volkswagen, just announced that production of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the premium SUV, has begun at its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra.
The much awaited Volkswagen Tiguan was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2016, and its introduction should pave way for the company’s presence in the currently growing SUV market.
Mr. Michael Mayer the Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India commented on the event saying, “We are delighted to introduce one of our most successful global products to the Indian market. The Tiguan will be our premium SUV offering for India and will cater to the unceasing demand in the segment. Our customers will now have an extended portfolio, ranging from hatchback to executive sedan, to meet their requirements at our showrooms.”
It was recently spotted in Aurangabad without camouflage, creating major buzz about the car, right before the announcement. The design seems to be inspired from the Volkswagen Cross Blue Concept, and is much sharper and more premium than its comparatively bland predecessor.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan would come equipped with a range of both, petrol, as well as diesel engines. It will be offered with manual transmission and also a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, to suit varied needs. This should create a perfectly blended balance of efficiency, performance, and luxury. The proportions of the new Volkswagen Tiguan are sporty and charismatic with an extremely stylish design.
It should create a sizeable dent in the Indian market for SUVs, making a mark of its own, while still sticking true to the brand’s promise of world class safety, performance, and a fun driving experience. The Volkswagen Tiguan is already powering through the European market, with its second generation undisputedly being the best-selling SUV in its class. It is expected to launch in the Indian market by May of this year.
