Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq both have achieved 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests. Both these car models were tested for the 1st time by Global NCAP. Both the SUV’s earned 5-stars for Child Occupant Protection and Adult Occupant Protection.
The Global NCAP’s updated crash test protocols assess frontal and side impact protection for all tested models, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, and side impact pole protection assessments are also required for vehicles scoring the highest star ratings.
Global NCAP have updated their crash test protocols to acess frontal and side impact protection. As per the tests the SUV’s showed excellent front impact test results offering good protection for the driver’s and the passenger’s head, neck and knees. On tv drivers side the crash test results showed marginal and adequate protection, while the passenger’s side showed good protection. Also in the results it was seen that the footwell area and the bodyshell are rated as stable. The side impact test showed that good protection offered to the head, abdomen, and pelvis, while the chest protection was also good.
In terms of safety both the Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq come with a long list of safety equipment which include three-point seat belts with adjustable headrests for all passengers, seat-belt reminder for the front seats, up to six airbags, roll-over protection, ISOFIX for child protection, hill hold control, electronic stability control with ABS, and electronic brake-force distribution as standard. Other features included are TPMS, electronic differential lock system, multi-collision braking, brake disc wiping, rear parking sensor with a camera. Both the SUV’s come with special impact absorbing body components and side-impact protection beams in the doors.
