Finally some real good news coming our way during the testing COVID time. TVS Motor has acquired the legendary British motorcycle brand Norton Motorcycles just a short while back. This historic deal happened just a short while back in the United Kingdom. The British brand was got in all cash for GBP 16 Million which is around ₹153 crore.
TVS Motor has acquired certain assets of Norton Motorcycles (U.K.) Limited (in administration) through one of TVS Motor’s overseas subsidiaries. The Norton brand was founded by James Lansdowne Norton in Birmingham UK way back in 1898. The Norton Motorcycles badge is among the oldest and most respected popular British motorcycle brands of all time.
Norton Motorcycles manufactures classic motorcycle models and also a range of luxury motorcycles which include the famous Commando to their contemporary 200 bhp, 1200cc V4 super-bikes.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mr. Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor Company said, “This is a momentous time for us at TVS Motor Company. The Norton brand was earlier brought into India by the Kinetic owned Motoroyale brand until recently. Now with TVS Motor owning the legendary brand makes it a proud moment for India.
