TVS Akula most likely to be christened as TVS Apache RR 310S !

We had earlier reported to you how the production ready TVS Akula 310 had been spotted on a dyno. We had also carried the speculation that the new medium category bike from the TVS stable will be named as the Apache 310. You can read the news report here.

In line with the speculation, a new filing in the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion which handles patents, design and trademark has revealed that the latest motorbike from TVS will most likely carry the branding TVS Apache RR 310S. This also makes the launch of the motorcycle very likely in the near future.

Initially showcased in the Auto Expo 2016 as a pure racing beast, the production version of the TVS Apache RR 310S will be slightly toned down to have a more urban and a practical appeal. The extremely sporty two-piece handle bar has been raised to a more comfortable position so that the rider does not curse TVS during his everyday commute to college or office in the urban traffic. The many carbon and aluminium bits seen on the original concept has been replaced with the more conventional plastic materials.

The bike, which is a result of the joint development with BMW Motorrad, will be powered by a new 310 cc single cylinder engine, borrowed from BMW 310GS. The engine develops 34 PS of maximum power and a 28 Nm peak torque. A 6 speed manual power gate should handle the transmission duties.

The bike will feature USD (UpSide Down) forks up front finished in a premium gold color which will add to the sporty looks. The bike will also feature a full fairing complete with the wind cutter and the LED powered headlights.First introduced in the Apache range, the bike may now include a completely digital instrument cluster with trip computing and lap timings calculator. ABS braking system is a given since it is already featured in the earlier Apache models while the devil horn shaped tail lights reveal the bike’s naughty aspirations.

The bike is expected to be launched by July 2017 and the production of the bike has already commenced in the TVS state of the art plant in Hosur,Tamil Nadu.
