Triumph Motorcycles has launched the most affordable Tiger model the Tiger Sport 660 adventure tourer at Rs 8.95 lakh ex-showroom, India. This new model replaces the Tiger Sport 850 as the entry-level product in the company’s adventure tourer lineup.
The Tiger 660 Sport is based on the Trident 660 roadster. The Tiger Sport 660 comes with a different sub-frame and a longer travel suspension setup as compared to the Trident 660. The styling is also different from the Trident 660, and the Tiger Sport 660 uses a semi-fairing and tall windscreen, and integrated pannier mounts. The feature list, similar to the Trident 660, include full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, two riding modes (road and rain), switchable traction control, and ABS. The company is also offering more than 40 accessories for the motorcycle.
Powering the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is the 660cc inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The new Triumph Tiger Sport 660 rivals the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Storm 650XT in the Indian market.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shoeb Farooq, Business Head, Triumph Motorcycles India, said, “We are delighted to add the all-new Tiger Sport 660 to our already strong portfolio in India. Tiger sport 660 will strengthen our position in the premium adventure motorcycle category and will provide a new entry point to the Tiger range. The Tiger Sport 660 will be the most powerful motorcycle in its category and the only triple cylinder offering the perfect mix in power, handling, technology and long-distance riding comfort making it the perfect motorcycle for the young urban tourer.
With its competitive pricing and its lowest cost of ownership in the category, we expect the motorcycle to bring in new customers into Triumph brand. This motorcycle marks our entry in the premium middleweight adventure category, and we are ready to welcome the new generation of Triumph riders in the brand.”
