Toyota had launched its luxury brand Lexus in India on March 24, 2017 to tap into the lucrative ultra- luxury segment in the country. Now after a couple of months after its official launch, Lexus has revealed the pricing of its top of the line SUV the LX450d. The full blown muscular diesel Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has been priced at Rs.2.32 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The pricing pins the luxury SUV from Lexus directly against the likes of the Range Rover.
The SUV is powered by a twin turbo V8 diesel engine displacing 4500 cc, generating 265 hp of peak power and good enough for 650 Nm of torque. The power delivery is taken care by a 6 speed automatic transmission and is distributed to all the four wheels.
With such impressive specs, the SUV should be a capable off roader and that is why we are so eager to get behind the wheels of the SUV and put it to test next week.
The LX450d is based on the same platform as that of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser and comes in a 5 seater configuration only.
True to its credentials as a luxury SUV, the Lexus LX450d comes with a host of exciting features. The air conditioning is a four zone automatic climate control; The front seats can be adjusted electrically and together with the electrically adjustable steering column ensures that the driver has a perfect driving position every time he takes the SUV to conquer the terrain outside. A 19 speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system is also offered to please one’s ears while a dual infotainment system for the rear seats ensures the occupants are not distracted by the outside world.
The LX is currently to be offered only in the diesel avatar. The seven seater LX570 which would be powered by a 5.7 liter V8 petrol engine is expected to join the line up soon.
The LX is now the third model from the Lexus line up that has gone for sale in the country. The earlier two launches were the Camry hybrid based ES300h sedan and the hybrid midsize luxury SUV RX450h.
