Spied – Mahindra XUV3OO Compact SUV Caught Testing (Video)

On December 19th Mahindra had christened their upcoming Compact SUV code-named S201 as the XUV3OO, We have now spotted the XUV3OO being tested before its launch which is planned for February 2019. The test-mule of the XUV3OO was spotted by Manoj Prabhakaran in Chennai.

The XUV3OO shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli and will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon. Mahindra plans to launch the XUV3OO in Feb 2019. Mahindra is eyeing a big share of sales from the Compact SUV segment that is currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Mahindra is planning to give the XUV3OO a many segment 1st features to eye customers.

The XUV3OO will be the smaller brother of the XUV5OO and join the Cheetah family. The XUV3OO draws a lot of design and styling clues from the Ssangyong Tivoli and the XUV5OO both. The XUV3OO will come with segment-first features like 7 airbags, sunroof, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM and dual zone Climate Control to name a few. The Mahindra XUV3OO is built on a monocoque chassis that will give a perfect SUV feel to the vehicle making it sturdier. Also the monocoque chassis will help in reducing engine noise and vibrations and also help in reducing overall weight of the vehicle.

The test-mule Mahindra XUV3OO appears a brute smart looking SUV with impressive looking body styling and dominating presence. From the pictures released by Mahindra the XUV3OO bears the prominent Mahindra signature grill and projector headlights with LED DRL’s, floating roofline, dual tone wing mirrors with turn lights on them, muscular looking wheel arches with 17 inches machine cut alloys and LED tail lamps make up the different yet classy exteriors. The XUV3OO is also expected to be getting an electric sun-roof on its equipment list.

On the inside the XUV3OO gets a premium styling on the cabin area. Dualtone dash in black and beige along with premium beige seats in leather, large touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Voice commands, Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio and USB.

Mahindra has not disclosed any engine options for the XUV3OO as of now but there would be one petrol and one diesel engine o choose from with manual transmission and also an AMT option later. For the Diesel Mahindra could very well use the Marrazos 1.5 litre, 4 cylinder unit that makes 123PS power @ 3,500 rpm and 300Nm torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm with a 6-speed manual or AMT option. As for the Petrol variant they could very well use the 1.2 litre turbocharged engine makes 120 bhp.

Mahindra has confirmed that both petrol and diesel manual options will be offered at the time of launch. AMT options will be launched later. Focus has been kept on driving dynamics, making the XUV300 the best driver’s car in the segment. Longest wheelbase in the segment also helps in achieving that. Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 7-11 lakh. It will enter production at Mahindra plant in Nashik.

On the safety front the Mahindra XUV3OO comes ready with Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) norms, safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts, seat belt reminder, all four disc brakes and ISOFIX anchorages offered as standard in all variants of XUV300.
