Skoda Octavia facelift launch around the corner!

Skoda Octavia is due for a facelift this year and the same is expected to be around July 10. We have already discussed about what to expect in the facelifted version here along with the spy pics.

The new Skoda Octavia will majorly feature cosmetic updates to differentiate itself from the outgoing car. One of the most interesting new feature would be the addition of a quad headlamp setup which is very similar to the one on the older generation Mercedes Benz E Class.

This facelift aims to make the Skoda Octavia feel even more upmarket with the addition of a substantial amount of kits and equipment to play around. It will get all new LED lights, a completely new infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touch screen, WLAN connectivity for smartphone integration, the famous Skoda umbrellas tucked inside the sides of the doors, a driver fatigue detection system, ambient mood lighting with adjustable colors, a rear view camera and a hands free parking system. The mid level trims, compared to the existing model will see the addition of more airbags taking the count from four to six. The top spec variant will continue to offer 8 airbags. The facelift will also see new larger 17-inch alloy wheels compared to the current offering of 16-inchers.

The Indian edition of the facelifted Octavia, however, shall lose out on features like the radar based obstacle detection system and wireless charging pads for smartphones.

Engine options wise, the facelift is expected to get the same set of 1.4 litre and 1.8 litre petrols along with the 2.0 litre diesel mill. While the 1.4 litre should be available with a 6-speed manual, the blistering 1.8 tsi should be continued to be offered only in the 7-speed DSG automatic guise. The 2.0 litre diesel however should have both the 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG automatic options for transmission duties.

While the price of the Skoda Octavia facelift is yet to be disclosed, it would be very interesting to see how the Czech brand does it with the effect of GST.

The Skoda Octavia vRS is also expected to make its debut around Diwali this year, will quad headlamps setup, aggressive body styling and more importantly a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine option.
