Skoda confirms Rapid Monte Carlo, Octavia RS and Kodiaq for India
The Skoda Octavia RS and Rapid Monte Carlo will be launched by the end of this month, while the Kodiaq will follow in October 2017.
Skoda India has been all over the news as it announced three new cars for the Indian market. The Czech manufacturer announced the much awaited Octavia RS and Kodiaq SUV, along with the Rapid Monte Carlo edition for India. The Rapid Monte Carlo is based on the standard Rapid but gets enhanced exteriors and special touches on the insides too. You get special edition Black alloy wheels, black front grille, smoked headlights and a contrast black roof and ORVMs. The interiors get red stitching for the steering wheel, gear lever and seats with silver accents as well.
The Skoda Octavia RS makes a comeback to India after a really long time. This one is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol motor that churns out 230 HP. This helps it hit 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds and go on to a top speed of 250 kmph. It will also be available with a 2.0-litre diesel with 177 HP on tap. Both engines will come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox with only the diesel offering a 4-wheel drive system (mated only to the auto box). The Octavia RS comes with a E-diff that transfers power to the outer wheel in case the need arises. The car also gets features like a 9.2-inch infotainment system with Apple Car Play Android Auto, leather seats and a panoramic sunroof.
The third car to be announced today was the Kodiaq SUV and the most important one of them all. This will be the new flagship for the company in India and will take on the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Power will be drawn from 3 TSI petrol motors and 2 TDI diesel engines with the option of manual and automatic gearboxes. Dynamic Chassis Control will be offered as optional while a new Snow Mode has been added to the various off-road modes. The Skoda Kodiaq will come with a infotainment system that hooks up to the internet to offer a wide range of new features. The 7-seater SUV will offer a huge boot space and a practical cabin.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo and Octavia RS will be launched by the end of this month with deliveries starting early next month. The Kodiaq SUV on the other hand will be launched in the 4th quarter of 2017 and we expect it to hit our shores by October 2017.
