Renault has today officially announced that the 2020 BS-6 Duster would be powered by the All New 1.3L Turbo Petrol engine.
The 1.3L Dual VVT Turbo Petrol engine on the Duster comes with direct injection technology. Renault has benchmarked this engine on its other models globally. The engine has a power output of 156PS and kicks out 250Nm of torque. While the naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine will also be available in its BS-6 form. This petrol engine makes 106Ps of power and 145Nm of torque. The 1.5L dCi Diesel engine has been phased out due to the non compliance with the BS-6 norms.
Transmission options on the 1.3L Turbo Petrol engine will be the standard 6-speed manual and also the optional X-Tronic CVT Automatic. Renault has not revealed fuel efficiency or performance figures for the new engine yet.
With the festive season just beginning this is the right time for Renault to re-launch the Duster with these new BS-6 hearts. The same engine also powers the BS-6 version of the Nissan KICKS where it also makes 156PS of power and 254Nm of torque making the KICKS the most powerful SUV currently till the Duster is launched.
The Renault Duster has always been considered as one of the benchmarks in the Compact SUV segment since its launch however recently the onslaught of newer SUVs from competition has pushed it in terms of sales. With this engine upgrade Renault is expecting a reboot to the Dusters sales figure.
The fully loaded Renault Duster in the RXZ trim gets loaded with features that include projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, diamond cut alloy wheels, fog lamps, roof rail, LED taillight, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, black interior with Deco brown upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, cooled glove box, dual front airbags, and automatic climate control. We expect the updated 2020 Duster to take this lineage ahead. Watch this space for more on the upcoming 2020 Renault Duster soon.
