Precautionary Recall For 1200 Jeep Compass in India
In what can be called as a precautionary recall, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have issued a statement for recalling 1200 Jeep Compass sold in India. This precautionary recall is for replacement of front passenger airbag following an FCA US LLC initiated recall, the company statement added. As per the official statement a supplier has advised FCA that, during its airbag module assembly process, loose fasteners may have inadvertently found their way undetected into a small number of modules. Only 1% of the total Jeep Compass could be affected by this the statement stated.
The Company is unaware of any related injuries, accidents, warranty claims or complaints. Nevertheless, customers whose vehicles are in the affected range are advised to refrain from using the front passenger seat until the situation is remedied read the statement from FCA.
In the coming week, FCA India and their authorized Dealers will directly contact customers whose Jeep Compass SUVs require a front passenger air bag replacement, and confirm appointments at authorized workshops. This replacement exercise will be carried out at no cost to customers reads the recall statement that was released late today evening by FCA. It may be recalled the Jeep Compass was launched on the 31st of July with deliveries starting on 6th August.aince then has been a bit hit across the country receiving a huge positive response from buyers and single handedly bailing out FCA.
The Jeep Compass comes powered by a 2.0L MultiJet Diesel and 1.4L Multi-Air Turbo Petrol. The Diesel engine has 173PS and 350 Nm of torque while the Petrol engine makes 162PS and 250Nm of torque. The Diesel version of the Compass gets a 6-speed manual transmission while the Petrol comes with both he 6-speed manual as well as the 7-speed DDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Technology) or Automatic Transmission. The Compass is available in three trims – Sport, Longitude and Limited and 10 variants, including a 4×2 Turbo Petrol with a 7-speed automatic transmission (DDCT). The Jeep Compass is currently being retailed out of 50 Jeep-flagship and FCA outlets, across 47 cities. FCA is expanding its sales network to 60 outlets by the end of this calendar year. The Jeep Compass comes with a three-year / 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and in addition, a complimentary Road-side Assistance (RSA) package for three (3) years. Customers can avail of an extended warranty program to enjoy additional warranty up to one or two years.
