MG Motor has unveiled the Astor SUV in India. The MG Astor is the most tech loaded SUV in its class with loads of segment first features loaded to it. This SUV from MG also becomes the first in its class to come loaded with AI-powered personal assistant and ADAS with level 2 autonomous tech. The MG Astor takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, and the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Taigun.
The MG Astor is built on the same platform as the ZS EV, infact it shares a lot with the Electric vehicle with major updates to it. In terms of exterior design the MG Astor looks a lot like the existing ZS EV with a long bonnet, a new chrome dotted star burst grille, LED head lights with DRL’s, dual tone 17 inch alloys, panoramic sun roof, LED tail lamps, all new front and rear bumpers with faux skid plates to name a few.
In terms of interiors the MG Astor will come with a choice of three options to choose from for the dual tone dashboard, a flat-bottom steering wheel, large 10.1-inch infotainment screen and an all-digital instrument cluster with a large MID unit heated ORVMs, and digital key among others. Drivers seat comes with full electric adjust while the steering gets three pre set modes to choose from which will alter the steering feedback accordingly to light medium or heavy.
The MG Astor comes with two petrol engines to choose from. You have the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine that comes mated with a 6-speed AT as standard and hits out 138 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. The second engine powering the Astor is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that comes with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission and makes 108 bhp or 144 Nm of torque.
On the safety and connectivity feature list the MG Astor has a long list of goodies loaded to it which include level 2 autonomous tech as part of ADAS and also with driver assistant features like lane keep assist, 360-degree camera, autonomous braking, intelligent head lamps, rear drive assist and lots more. MG has also loaded 80 plus connected car features to the Astor which include India’s first AI Personal Assistant. Also loaded tp the SUV are Jio e-SIM based internet features.
