MG had entered the Indian car market with the Hector , which in all means was a trend setter . Being the first ” Internet car” loaded with features to the brim , the Hector was a recipe that quickly became a favourite of the feature hungry indian buyers and MG enthusiasts alike . After being on sale for a good 1.5 years and garnering about 40,000 sales , the Hector is now being re-introduced with a minor facelift for the year 2021 . On the outside the first thing that really differentiates the old and the new Hector is the bold thermo pressed chrome grille . The old grille was a looker no doubt but this new grille , bolder , more in your face just take the road presence of the SUV a notch higher . The headlamp setup stays the same with the MG logo very prominently sitting right in the middle . On the sides the first thing you notice are the new designed wheels which are also now slightly bigger and fill up the wheel arches finishing the SUV stance , the dual tone exterior colour scheme catches your eye , the ORVM also gets a black housing and adds to the buchness of the car . At the rear the new Hector get rid of the connected reflector between the taillamps which gets replaced by a black chrome applique . On the exterior the changes are subtle but have managed to uplift the overall butch vibe while not straying too far away from the old Hector .’
Getting inside , you’ll notice the biggest and the most prominent change , the dual tone interior upholstery . Champagne and Black makes the interiors stand apart from all the cars in the segment which get a single black monotone interior but the how the new light interior fares in our climate and pollution , remains to be seen . Settling in the seats the first change you might notice is the seat ventilation which now has become the norms in not just premium cars but even this segment as well as a segment lower .
The Hector’s interior remains more or less the same , sans the new Auto dimming mirror and the wireless charger . All in all just like the exterior , the interior does give you a updated feel without completely overshadowing the older cabin . The all favourite sunroof and voice commands are the party tricks that the Hector boasts of . Talking about the voice commands , the Hector now gets an added list of new voice commands , few of which can be said in Hindi and during our experience we found the voice recognition for hindi very prompt and accurate , which you can see in our video .

The engine and transmission options are carried as they were in the outgoing model which in out opinion did not need any change to start with . The Hector packs a very good punch when it comes to value for money and stands out as one of the most sensible choice in the price bracket . The Hector and Hector Plus will go up against the likes of the Seltos , Creta ,Harrier , upcoming Safari and XUV5OO .
