MG Gloster SUV to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, bigger than the Jeep Cherokee & Toyota Prado
MG Motors have released official teasers of what is their third product offering for India the Gloster 7-seater SUV. The Gloster will be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo on the 5th of February. The MG Gloster is the full sized SUV from MG also sold as the Maxus D90 in the Chinese market. The MG Gloster will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 in its segment.
The Gloster will get a few updates to it to suit our market as expected but overall the design and styling will remain as the global model. The Gloster is a full sized 7-seater SUV that measures 5005 mm in length, 1932 mm in width, 1875 mm in height and has a overall wheelbase of 2950 mm. The dimensions put it in the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and the Mahindra Alturas G4 class. The teaser image that MG has released shows the dark image of the Gloster sporting the trademark MG family grille and with white LED headlights and fog lamps glowing.

As per MG Motors the MG Gloster will be priced in the Rs. 40 lakh to Rs. 45 lakh price range. The MG Gloster Specs are similar to Land Cruiser Prado and Jeep Grand Cherokee as per MG Motors teaser. Additionally the MG D90 that the Gloster is based on has 5 star Australia NCAP crash safety rating, 70% of the body is made of high strength steel, 9% of the body is made from thermoformed steel with strength of 1,500Mpa – incomparable solid safety protection, the SUV comes with Laser Welded Roof and its large size curtain can unfold into a soft bed protecting all passengers from hitting hard surfaces in a crash.
In terms of features the MG Gloster is said to come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a digital instrument display, panoramic sunroof and a 360 degree camera. Also on the equipment list would be tyre pressure monitoring system, blind spot detection and an electric tailgate.
Powering the Maxus D90 globally is the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 224PS of power and 360Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is also available in a 4WD option. Here in India the MG Gloster is likely to be powered by the Hectors 2.0-litre diesel engine with some performance tweaks.
