The luxury arm of the Japanese auto major Toyota, Lexus, has launched the updated version of its crossover SUV Lexus NX at the Shanghai Motor Show here. Sharper styling at both the front and the rear and addition of latest technological and safety kits inside compared to the outgoing model sums up the update. The already mean looking front design has been made even sharper with the new triple projector headlamps and the large, imposing front grille. Sharper design cues at the rear and a new alloy wheel design complement the rest of the vehicle’s aggressive intent.
The interior now carries more plushness with the use of some exclusive materials and satin metallic finish to elements which are touched and felt increase luxury quotient inside.Technological updates inside include a newer and bigger 10.3-inch multimedia infotainment screen along with the touchpad controller for a fuss free use. The interior also carries a smartphone wireless charger, higher amperage USB charger and a tailgate that can be opened by waving the foot under the rear bumper.
Lexus team has not left the suspension setup untouched and the tweaks include a new adaptive variable suspension borrowed from its flagship bigger brother LC500 with revised tuning to improve the ride comfort and also to give the handling department of the car a much needed boost compared to the outgoing one. The facelift also offers a much better noise insulation to keep the occupants unperturbed by the outside world.
On the safety front, the Lexus NX facelift will carry the Lexus safety system as standard along with a host of active driver aids like lane departure alert, automatic high beam headlights and radar cruise control to assist the driver and to ensure a fatigue free drive.
In India, the newer Lexus NX will be positioned below the recently launched Lexus RX 450h.
