Maruti Suzuki Unveils the Grand Vitara, claims class leading fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its first Mid Sized SUV for India the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara will be available in two engine options, Strong Hybrid and a Mild Hybrid. The Grand Vitara will be sold through the Nexa Dealership and now becomes the Flagship model for the Number One car maker in India. Bookings are already being accepted for Rs. 11,000 and deliveries are expected to begin by the end of August or early September.
In terms of looks the All New Grand Vitara looks very muscular and sports an aggressive grille with slim style all-LED lights along with a thick chrome bar that runs across the face. The bumper gets character lines and houses the headlamps along with a faux skid plate. The wheel arches gets squared wheel arches with fibre cladding on them. The Grand Vitara drives on 17-inch precision-cut alloy wheels. The rear of the new Grand Vitara looks very smart too with extra slim LED split lamps and a LED bar connecting the tail lamps. There are two versions of the Grand Vitara on offer – Progressive Smart Hybrid and Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The Progressive Smart Hybrid comes with a Rich Chrome finish on the front grille garnish while the Intelligent Electric Hybrid gets a Dark Chrome finish differentiating the two versions.
In terms of interiors the Grand Vitara gets a very premium looking cockpit. The instrument panel comes with clean looking sweeping design. The seats get Rich Black faux leather upholstery with champagne gold accents on the Electric Hybrid trim. The Smart Hybrid variant gets Bordeaux faux leather with high Luminant silver accents. The cabin gets a piano black finish while the dashboard gets a 3D set-up. On the feature list you get a coloured head-up display with turn-by-turn navigation, speed, tachometer, fuel economy, and other important notifications, 360-degree camera with approaching object detection and dynamic reverse guidelines, 9.0-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment with a wireless charger with overheating protection etc. The Grand Vitara comes with 40 connected features which include remote AC operation, vehicle safety and secure location, trip meter, vehicle status and alerts, Alexa Skill and smartwatch connectivity as well.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be available in two engine options. The Intelligent Electric Hybrid trim comes powered with a 1.5-litre self-charging strong hybrid powertrain with four different drive modes – EV, Eco, Power and Normal. Maruti Suzuki claims that this variant offers best-in-class fuel efficiency of 27.97 km/l. It will offer only an e-CVT.
The Progressive Smart Hybrid trim or the mild hybrid model gets powered with the 1.5-litre engine and comes with features like brake energy regeneration, torque assist, and idle start-stop. As per Maruti Suzuki the Progressive Smart Hybrid trim returns a maximum fuel efficiency of 21.11 km/l. The mild-hybrid system comes with a five-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
The Grand Vitara will also come with Suzuki AllGrip AWD technology that will allow the new Grand Vitara to reach extreme locations. There are four modes available in the AllGrip system to choose from – Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock. The Grand Vitara becomes the only AWD vehicle on the Maruti Suzuki model line-up currently.
In terms of safety the Grand Vitara comes with upto six airbags, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Assist, 3-point seatbelts, rear disc brakes, hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system among many other safety features.Watch this space for more on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara very soon.
