Maruti Suzuki Commences Commercial Production at Haryana’s Kharkhoda Plant

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (‘Maruti Suzuki’) today began commercial production at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The foundation stone, for this facility, was laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in August 2022, virtually. To begin with, the Kharkhoda facility will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units and produce the compact SUV Brezza. With this, Maruti Suzuki, including Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki, will have a total annual production capability of 2.6 million units.

Maruti Suzuki has been testing the three-row version of the Grand Vitara that was spied testing near the Kharkhoda plant in Haryana. The New SUV will also be produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Kharkhoda facility. The upcoming seven-seater variant of the Grand Vitara is expected to be built on the global C-platform. Spy images indicate that this extended version features a longer profile along with new alloy wheels. The front end appears to sport an updated grille, a reworked bumper, and a redesigned headlamp setup with fresh daytime running lights (DRLs). At the rear, the SUV is anticipated to include connected LED taillamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a newly styled bumper.

In terms of interiors the 3-row Grand Vitara is likely to feature a all new dashboard with a large infotainment touchscreen. Other features on the interiors include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents. On the safety front the New SUV is also expected to get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Mechanically, the three-row Grand Vitara will be powered by the same five-seater model engine option with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain. Transmission options are also likely to remain unchanged. Once launched the 7-seater Grand Vitara will rival other three-row SUVs which include the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio-N, Kia Carens, and MG Hector Plus.
