Maruti Suzuki Baleno Smart Hybrid BS VI Launched, prices start at Rs.7.25 Lakh
India’s Numero Uno car maker Maruti Suzuki have launched the Baleno Smart Hybrid BS VI today with prices starting at Rs. 7.25 Lakh Ex Showroom. The latest variant to the Baleno lineup is called as 1.2Litre Dualjet, Dual VVT BS VI becomes the 1st BS VI compliant model from Maruti Suzuki and also India’s first premium hatchback with Smart Hybrid technology. The Smart Hybrid technology with Li-ion battery will be offered in two variants of Baleno : Zeta (Rs.7.86Lakh) & Delta (Rs.7.25Lakh) 1.2L Dualjet Dual VVT. The Baleno Smart Hybrid will be available across Nexa outlets soon.
The New 1.2L Dualjet Dual VVT Petrol engine along with the Smart Hybrid technology together leads to improved fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. Existing 1.2L VVT petrol engine variants will also be BS VI compliant and available in all variants including CVT automatic.
Features of the Smart Hybrid Technology with Lithium ion battery include Torque Assist feature where the energy stored in the lithium battery assists during acceleration delivering optimal acceleration and performance without any compromise on the fuel efficiency. The Idle Start Stop function on the system automatically stops the engine when idle and also silently starts it when needed aiding better fuel efficiency. Brake Energy Regeneration feature intelligently charges the batteries when the vehicle decelerates which in turn assist the engines idle start stop and torque assist functions.
The new 1.2L Dualjet, Dual VVT BS VI engine also improves on the combustion efficiency and reduced friction, this engine offers a class leading fuel efficiency figure of 23.87kmpl. As per Maruti Suzuki the BS VI compliant petrol vehicles will lead to a substantial reduction of nearly 25% in Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions. BS VI norms also enforce stringent limit on Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC) emissions. The BS VI norms ensure a substantial increase in the durability of exhaust after-treatment system.
In order to achieve this stringent emission regulation requirement, company has upgraded both engine hardware & software along with exhaust system. The Engine control software has been upgraded for more precise fuel injection control using various on-board sensors to ensure cleaner and durable emission control.
