Suzuki India today launched the Burgman Street, a 125cc maxi-scooter at a price tag of Rs.68,000 /- in a launch event held in Delhi Today. The Burgman Street is inspired from the elder sibling, Burgman 550 sold in International markets, and will come to India with a 125cc motor. Suzuki India had first showcased the Burgman 125 in the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year.
This will be the 2nd Maxi-scooter to be launched in India, first being the Kinetic Blaze launched in 2007,which had to stop sales due to poor demand. The Burgman 125 will share the same engine platform from Suzuki’s best seller in India, the Access 125. The huge Apron on the front, and a small windshield upfront, makes the scooter more appealing and grants it an adventure ready look.
This 125cc single mill is mated to a CVT and delivers 8.7Bhp of Power and 10.2Nm of Torque. Mileage figures are expected to be in 40-42kmpl range, higher than the Access owing to the lighter weight of the fiber body by around 4kgs. Other than that, it comes equipped with a Disk brake on the Front, and a Drum Setup on the Rear, equipped with Combi-Brake System for better stopping power. The instrument cluster looks like the same on the Suzuki GIxxer and Intruder, but obviously wont house a Gear Position Indicator. With an under seat storage capacity of 21.5 liters the Suzuki Burgman 125 also comes with a DC socket and USB charger as an accessory.
The company has already started taking bookings for the Burgman125 via its dealerships across India with a booking amount of Rs.5000/-, and deliveries shall start soon. The Burgman will compete with the likes of Honda Grazia and TVS Ntorq.
Now its just a wait and watch. Only time and Sales figures will tell, what the market chooses to be the best for itself. That is all from the launch event, and we shall soon do a road test review of the Burgman125 and get back to you with a comprehensive review of the same.
