LIVE – Skoda Launches the Karoq Compact SUV priced at Rs. 24.99 Lakh
Skoda has launched three car models today in India via their first online launch event just a short while back. The Czech car maker Skoda introduced the Karoq and also got in the 2020 models for the Superb and the Rapid for our market. The Skoda Karoq is priced at Rs. 24.99 Lakh while the Skoda Superb comes in at Rs. 29.99 Lakh and the Skoda Rapid TSI is priced at Rs. 7.49 Lakh. The Skoda Karoq is its 5 seater Compact SUV that replaces the Yeti which was phased out a few years back. Skoda will be importing the Karoq as CBU units and is offered in only the fully loaded trim. Skoda had officially unveiled the Karoq just before the 2020 Auto Expo at the Volkswagen Group Night media event and later showcased it at the Auto Expo. The Skoda Karoq rivals the likes of the Jeep Compass and its cousin the Volkswagen T-Roc in its segment. Built on the MQB platform that is also shared with the VW T-Roc the Karoq looks like a smaller version of the larger 7-seater Kodiaq. In terms of exteriors the Karoq gets the familiar Skoda family large butterfly grille, LED headlights, LED DRL, LED fog lights with cornering function, the trademark Skoda sharp sculpted front bumper and a huge air dam. The Skoda Karoq drives on large 16 inch alloys and also gets electric wing mirrors, silver roof rails. The rear profile comes with C-shaped wraparound LED taillamps, sculpted bumper the Skoda badging on the tailgate. The Karoq also gets a large panoramic electric sunroof on the feature list.
In terms of interiors the Skoda Karoq gets typical Skoda levels of plush cockpit styling in beige and black tone. The neatly styled dash gets a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink connectivity, dual-zone climate control and a multi-functional steering wheel, along with a fully digital instrument cluster with the latest generation LED virtual cockpit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is also included. Other features include electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and rear AC vents. In terms of safety, the Karoq comes with nine airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, ParkTronic system, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to name some. The Karoq also comes with a class leading boot space of 521 litres which can be further extended to 1630 litres by folding down the seats.
Powering the Skoda Karoq is the 1.5L TSI EU6 Petrol engine that makes 150PS of power and a peak torque of 250Nm. This engine comes mated with the latest generation 7-speed DSG Automatic Transmission. The Skoda Karoq is available in 6 body color options that include Candy White, Magnetic Brown, Lava Blue, Magic Black, Brilliant Silver and Quartz Grey.
