LIVE – Mercedes launches the 2021 S-Class in India priced at Rs. 2.17 Crore
Mercedes has launched the latest S-Class in India today. The 2021 Mercedes S-Class is priced at Rs. 2.17 Crore for the S400d (Diesel) while the S450 (Petrol) is priced at Rs. 2.19 Crore.
Mercedes had unveiled this the 7th generation S-Class globally in September 2020 and Mercedes India has wasted no time to get it into India. The Mercedes S-Class has been termed as the ‘Best Car in the World’ and also has been the winner at the 2021 World Luxury Car of the Year. Already 150 units of the just launched S-Class have been booked in its CBU form.
In terms of exteriors the 2021 Mercedes S-Class is one of the world’s most aerodynamic cars, specifically in the luxury sedan segment, with a Cd of 0.22. The premium sedan gets longer, wider and taller in dimensions. Upfront you get a new radiator grille which is bolder, curvier and more striking. The 2021 S-Class comes comes into India as the Launch Edition with the sporty AMG Line exteriors and interiors and drives on 20-inch alloys which is a first for the S-Class in India.
The door handles electrically retract into the bodyline and extend out automatically when a passenger approaches. The super premium car gets all new Active ambient lighting headlights made up of around 250 LEDs integrated into the driving assistance systems and new intricate design tail lights along with other fresh and dynamic looking body styling. The ‘Digital Light’ system on the new S-Class’ LED headlights come with a advanced system, which uses a module with three powerful LEDs that can project symbols and guidelines onto the road surface.
Like the outside the interiors of the New S-Class also comes loaded with the latest technology, styling and premium cabin. The S-Class gets a 12.8-inch tablet-style OLED infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument display upfront. The car comes with the latest MBUX infotainment system and also features fingerprint, PIN and voice recognition. Going ahead with the screens the premium sedan gets a total of three screens for rear seat passengers in the new S-Class which include two displays mounted on the front seatbacks for entertainment purposes, and a portable tablet that is neatly placed into the centre armrest, which can be used to control vital functions of the car.
In terms of comfort the New S-Class the Nappa leather interiors with diamond cross stitch seats come with 19 motors that massage the passenger enhancing the comfort levels from 10 massage programs. Also on the feature list is the Burmester high end 4D surround sound system with audio playing from 30 loudspeakers and 8 resonators. The car also gets a new 64 color ambient lighting system and a large panoramic sun roof, new designer illuminated belt buckles on the feature list.
In terms of safety the New S-Class gets a long list of features loaded on to it along with Driving Assistance Package 5.0 which is the latest generation and comes with new and improved functions. Also on the safety list is the all-new rear airbags which is the world’s first frontal airbag for the rear two passengers on the outer rear seats. Its design with an innovative, tubular structure is unique. It deploys gently, and in severe frontal collisions it can greatly reduce the loads acting on the heads and necks of the outer rear passengers.
