Kia Motors have made their official entry into the Indian market with the Global Unveil of their first car model the Seltos. The Kia Seltos was revealed just a short while back at a glittering media event in Delhi.
The Kia Seltos is a 5 seater Mid sized SUV that will be manufactured in India at the Kia Motors plant at Ananthpur in Andra Pradesh. Kia Motors had first revealed the Seltos as the SP Concept during the last Auto Expo. In terms of looks the Kia Seltos looks extremely catch and trendy with the signature Kia Tiger nose grille and crown jewel styled headlights with signature Kia heartbeat shape LED DRL.
The bumper gets diamond shapes knurling with faux aluminum skid plat around the air dam and also vertically placed LED fog lamps ice cube styling as Kia calls them. The sides are highlighted with the multispoke diamond cut alloys, stylish roofrails and faux inserts around the fenders.
The rear styling is highlighted with slim signature Kia LED tail-lamps, dual muffler design on the bumpers and touch of chrome on the boot lid. The Kia Seltos will be available in 8 body color options and 5 dualtone color styles to choose from.
In terms on cabin features the Kia Seltos gets electric driver’s seat, electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, air purifier, touch screen system with navigation,Bose music system, Music mood lighting etc.
The Kia UVO App based features include AI voice command, auto collision notification, stolen vehicle tracking, SOS emergency assist, geo fencing, remote engine start stop etc, to name a few.
In terms of the safety features the Kia Seltos gets 360 degree camera, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, HAC, VSM, front and rear parking sensors, Traction Control, Brake Assist etc.
No engine options powering the Kia Seltos have been revealed yet but the Korean car maker has said both the diesel and petrol engines will be BS VI ready from day one. The company also revealed that the engines would be petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel guise and will be offered in three automatic transmission options – IVT, (Intelligent continuously variable transmission) 7DCT, 6AT and, along with 6 Speed Manual transmission. Drivers can choose from ‘Normal’, ‘Eco’ and ‘Sport’ mode As preset drive modes.
Kia Motors plans to get 264 authorized touch points across 160 cities. The wide-spread network of Kia Motors India will enable the company to offer seamless support to its patrons at every stage of their Kia ownership. Adding to customer’s convenience and delight, Kia Motors India will also digitalise its sales and service offerings enabling a hassle-free ownership experience. As Kia Motors India proceed further, the company is all set to increase the number of its touchpoints and committed to offer its service to even tier 4 markets along with tier 1,2 and 3.
Kia Motors will price the Seltos in the ₹11 Lakh to ₹17 Lakh price range and will be launching in the last quarter of 2019. The Kia Seltos will enter the Midsized SUV segment and compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Tata Harrier, Nissan Terrano and will also undercut the likes of the Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass etc. Watch this space for all the latest on the Kia Seltos coming up soon.
