Kia has launched the 6-7 Seater Carens at an extremely competitive starting price of Rs. 8.99 Lakh. The Carens is available in three engine and three transmission options across five trims. Kia had earlier unveiled the Carens in India in December 2021, with bookings opening in India since January 2022. Kia has already received 19,089 pre-orders for the Carens.

The Carens is available in five variants namely Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus. On the Carens the Luxury Plus trim is the only trim to come with the six-seater option while the other variants are available as seven-seater models only. In terms of exteriors the Kia Carens comes with a unique and different yet catchy styling which includes a sleek radiator grille that is flanked by Star Map LED DRLs, chiselled front bumper, large air intake, LED foglamps, side cladding, and 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear the Carens gets a distinct styling elements which include split LED tail lights joined by a strip, star design LED tail lights, chrome inserts on bumper. At 2,780 mm, the Carens has the longest wheelbase in its segment and should be comfortable for seven passengers.
In terms of interiors the Kia Carens comes with 10.25-inch touchscreen system, new-gen Kia Connect suite with 66 connected car technologies, a fully digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT, electric sunroof, roof-mounted AC vents for the second- and third-row seats, automatic AC, front ventilated seats, electric sunroof, and electric tumble for second-row seat, air purifier, wireless smartphone charger, Bose sound system with eight speakers, auto cruise control with speed limiter, and three driving modes — Sport, Eco, and Normal.
In terms of safety Kia Carens comes with standard features across the trims which include six airbags, ABS, EBD, hill-start control, downhill-brake control, vehicle stability management, highline tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse parking sensors, all-four disc brakes, brake assist, and electronic stability control. In addition to these, the top-end trim will have rain-sensing wipers, front parking sensors, and reversing camera.

The Carens is available with a choice between a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated diesel engine, and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.5-litre petrol unit develops 113 bhp with 144 Nm in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5-litre diesel unit hits out 113 bhp and 250 Nm mated to a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit churns out 138 bhp with 242 Nm and comes with an option of either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with paddle shifters.
The Kia Carens competes in the 6-7 seater MPV SUV segment with the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV 7OO and the Tata Safari.
