LIVE – Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Launched at Rs. 19.50 Lakh
Honda has launched the City e:HEV Hybrid Sedan in India priced at Rs. 19.50 Lakh. The City Hybrid will be available only in the fully loaded ZX trim in 5 body color options – Radiant Red Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic. Honda had opened bookings for the City Hybrid last month and the deliveries shall now begin after the price announcement. The Honda City e:HEV Hybrid promises a fuel economy of 26.5KMPL which is its key USP during the current rising fuel prices.
The Honda City Hybrid becomes the first strong hybrid car model for the masses. Powering the Honda City Hybrid is 4-cylinder 1.5L Atkinson petrol engine along with two motors which make a total of 126PS of power and 253Nm of torque. One motor is the generator while the other motor powers the car along with the engine. This hybrid setup is mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission with a single clutch setup that’s mounted onto the engine itself. The e:HEV system uses three driving modes – EV Drive Mode, Hybrid Drive Mode, and Engine Drive Mode, along with Regeneration Mode when decelerating.
In terms of looks the Hinda City Hybrid looks exactly the same as the ICE version of the sedan. Changes on the outside include a new updates grille with the Hybrid blue Honda logo, sporty black inserts around the fog lamps, rear boot lip spoiler, rear bumper diffuser and of course the e:HEV badging.
On the insides the cabin also remains the same as the one on the ICE engine version of the City. Changes here include the new 7 inch color TFT meter console that displays multi information of the working of the hybrid system in real time along with the e-CVT shifter, electromechanical hand brake with auto hold.
Honda has also introduced its safety feature Honda Sensing with the City Hybrid. Honda Sensing is their ADAS system which uses real time camera inputs of the surroundings and comes with features like Collision Mitigation Braking system which gives warning and then also applies brakes automatically if needed. Road Departure Mitigation System is warning system that gives visual alerts if you leave your lane, if still you don’t come back into the lane the system automatically steers the car back into the lane. Lane keep assist system assists the driver to keep the car in the middle of the lane and if you tend to deviate the system gives a slight torque on the steering to warn you.
The last and the best system on the Honda Sensing is the Adaptive Cruise Control, while using this feature you can set a speed above 30kmph and then the car automatically senses and follows the car ahead maintaining safe distance and also slowing down or speeding up as per the car it is following or even braking on its own if the car ahead applies brakes.
Along with the Honda Sensing you also get 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Lane watch camera, ISOFIX seat anchorage, all wheel disc brakes, multi angle camera, electro mechanical hand brake with brake hold assist, tyre pressure monitor, auto high beam etc on the safety feature list of the Honda City Hybrid. The New City e:HEV also comes equipped with 37 Honda Connect features with smartwatch connectivity, the car can be remotely controlled for enhanced convenience and user can always stay up-to-date with important notifications.
The Honda City e:HEV comes with 3-year Unlimited kilometers warranty as standard along with an extended Warranty of up to 5 years and Anytime Warranty up to 10 years from the date of car purchase. The Lithium-ion Battery comes with a 8-year or 1,60,000 Km (whichever comes first) warranty from the date of car purchase.
