LIVE – 2019 Triumph Speed Twin Launched in India at Rs. 9.46 Lakh

Triumph has launched the 2019 Speed Twin in India today at a price of Rs. 9.46 Lakh Ex showroom pan India. The latest version of the classic modern British motorcycle joins the lineup for Triumph here in India. Triumph had opened bookings for the Speed Twin a few weeks ago with deliveries starting by the end of this month.

The Triumph Speed Twin uses a lot of the parts and bins from the Triumph Thruxton but weighs a good 10kgs lesser than the Thruxton. The styling is inspired from the Triumph Bonneville T120 and also from the Street Twin. In terms f styling the 2019 Triumph Speed Twin stands out with the classic retro round headlight with LED DRL’s that give that modern touch to the classic machine. The headlight brackets are forged in anodized aluminium finish, instrumentation is taken care by the twin round meters with a LCD screen that further enhance the retro feel. The fuel tank comes in classic shape with hand painted stripes that give that personal touch. The seat is flat and at a low height going well with the overall styling. The motorcycle also gets brushed aluminium mudguards and throttle body case. The Speed Twin rides on 17 inch seven-spoke aluminium wheels that complete the classic retro styling.

The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin comes powered with an 1200cc parallel twin cylinder liquid cooled engine that makes 96 bhp of power and 112Nm of torque, incidentally this is the same engine that also powers the Triumph Thruxton but is around 2.5kgs lighter because of the use of magnesium cam cover and a lighter new clutch assembly. This motor is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with torque assist clutch. Triumph says the motorcycle has a fuel efficiency figure of 20.83kmpl.

The suspension setup on the Speed Twin is a 41mm cartridge forks upfront with 120mm of travel and twin shocks at he rear with adjustable pre-load and 120mm rear travel. The braking duties are taken care by twin 305mm discs Brembo four-piston axial calipers in the front and a 220mm disc from Nissin at the rear.
