Land Rover Discovery 2017 to be launched in India by October

Managing Director and President of Jaguar Land Rover India, Mr. Rohit Suri had earlier, in April, confirmed his company’s plans to launch ten new models this financial year. In line with his statement, Jaguar Land Rover India had launched the Jaguar XE diesel in May this year. Now, in an interview with Economic Times, the Managing Director of the Tata owned British marquee brand has once again revealed that the company will launch the 2017 Land Rover Discovery in India during the festive season around October 2017.

The 2017 Land Rover discovery is the fifth iteration of the capable SUV from the Jaguar Land Rover stable. This is the third major design update which the SUV is seeing in its life cycle. The redesign makes the SUV look softer and luxurious than the outgoing model which had more of a purposeful no non-sense design. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery get its design inspired by the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept which was revealed in 2014.

Worldwide, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery is currently available with 2.0-litre Td4 and 2.0-litre Sd4 Ingenium inline four-cylinder diesel engines, 3.0-litre Td6 V6 diesel engine and 3.0-litre Si6 V6 petrol engine. The 2.0-litre Td4 engine produces 180 PS and 430 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-litre Sd4 engine develops 240 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre Td6 V6 engine is tuned for 258 PS and 600 Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre Si6 V6 engine puts out 340 PS and 450 Nm of torque. While the transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed automatic transmission, an intelligent four-wheel drive system manages to deliver power to all four wheels through either a single speed transfer box or a twin speed transfer box depending on the engine and the equipment grade chosen.

Internationally, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery is sold in multiple variants including features like Adaptive LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, 22-inch wheels, full glass (fixed/front opening) panoramic roof, head-up display, 5-inch driver information display inside the instrument cluster, three-zone automatic climate control system, 10-inch InControl Touch Pro touchscreen infotainment system and 17-speaker Meridian audio system.
