KTM 800cc Adventure Motorcycle Spotted Testing
KTM will be launching an all new adventure motorcycle to take on the likes of the Hondas, Triumphs and BMWs. It is expected to launch next year and could eventually make it to India.
KTM largely known for its Duke range of motorcycles in India is testing rather something special back in Austria. The KTM RC390 is the most expensive KTM you can buy in India but abroad they have quite a few big capacity motorcycles. The company also has a couple of big capacity adventure touring bikes in its portfolio but the company has been caught planning a new model. KTM currently offers its adventure motorcycles with 1050cc and 1190cc engines, but the Austrian bike maker might be planning a smaller 800cc version of the bike to take on the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 and the BMW F800GS. The bike is seen for the very first time in these pics completely under camouflage.
KTM’s new adventure tourer will be powered by a 800cc parallel twin engine that will be seen on the Duke 800 set to launch later this year. But rest of the bike like the swingarm, chassis, exhaust system, subframe, fuel tank and front end are all new. The bike has bigger wheels, higher ground clearance, engine guard and the silencer which is placed high up. The seat of the bike looks slim and the fuel tank edgy. The riding position is upright and a dual disc brake upfront and a single disc brake setup at the rear can be seen.
KTM could be aiming for developing markets like India to sell the new adventure tourer motorcycle. If and when launched in India it will be priced around the Rs. 10 lakh while local manufacturing could bring the price down further. The international launch of this 800cc adventure motorcycle is said to occur sometime next year in 2017, as a 2018 model.
