Kia release first official interior sketch of their upcoming Mid sized SUV
Kia Motor’s have revealed the first official interior sketch of their upcoming Mid sized SUV for India. The sketches reveal the dashboard layout of the very first car model from the Korean car maker Kia Motor’s as they get all set for their India entry. The Kia Mid sized SUV is based on the SP2i Concept that Kia Motors had showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and will be unveiled in India in June.
Seen from the official sketches is a very neat and elegant looking dashboard in dual-tone theme. The steering is seen with a three spoke design and with brushed metal inserts around the multi function control buttons placed on it. Rich feel leather wrapping is also seen. The instrument cluster is a twin pod layout with a nice big LCD display in between the dials. Cruise control would also be featuring on this SUV. AC vents get metal surrounds and the engine start stop button is also visible just behind the steering. The highlight of the dashboard is the 10.25 inch infotainment touchscreen unit that is neatly placed just above the climate control unit. The infotainment system will get Android Auto, Navigation, Radio, Climate control settings, Driving Info, voice control etc.
The climate control unit placed under the floating infotainment screen looks sleek with trendy looking all black digital display. An automatic transmission shifter is in place with tip-tronic. The shifter design looks premium with a mix of metal and leather on it. Just next to the shifter is the Off-road control dial. Around the shifter unit are also the control buttons for cooled seats (seat ventilation), auto start stop (engine regeneration), parktronic etc. The Kia mid-size SUV will also be sporting an electronic handbrake.
The other key highlight of the cabin would be the ambient lighting or sound mood lighting as Kia calls it. The door pads as seen in the sketches looks elegant with brushed metal inserts and leather padding. The upholstery on the seat looks like a mix of faux leather and fabric in dual tone. The center arm rest is also seen with hand stitching on it.
Byung Chul Juh, Head of Kia Styling at Kia Motors Corporation, comments: “We have focused on designing a cabin unlike any other in the mid-SUV segment, with a greater sense of depth and richness to the design. Our newest model will offer greater pleasure and satisfaction to our customers, with a premium-quality interior that benefits from sophisticated design details.”
Overall the cabin of the Kia mid-sized SUV looks extremely well appointed and premium in the sketch loaded with all the latest features and functions. Kia Motor’s says – Manufactured in India for the world, the mid-SUV resonates the design language that is customized for the Indian customers.
