Jaguar India has finally launched the XE Diesel in India at a starting price of Rs. 38.25 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. This makes it dearer than the base petrol version by Rs. 1 lakh, current;y priced at Rs. 37.25 lakhs. The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel unit produces 178 HP of max power an 400 Nm of max torque. The engine will be mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox and will drive the rear wheels only. The car can hit 100 kmph in just 7.8 seconds and go on to a top speed of 228 kmph. The company had launched the mid level Prestige trim in September last year expanding its portfolio and the addition of the diesel engine just makes the Jaguar XE’s package a more rounded.
The Jaguar XE diesel gets a wheel base of 2,835mm and a boot space of 455 litres. The dashboard is made of high quality leather that is sourced from UK and Italy. The car’s instrument cluster takes inspiration from the company’s iconic sportscar the F-Type while the rising gear selector knob is a standard Jaguar exclusive feature. The Jaguar XE is based on an all new light weight Aluminium architecture and with the help of Torque Vectoring makes this car a hoot to drive.
Some of the other features on the Jaguar XE Diesel include Jaguar Drive Control, All Surface Progress Control, Meridian Sound System (380 W), Sliding Panoramic Sunroof and 8-inch Touch Screen with InControl Touch Infotainment system. Rohit Suri, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd.
