Honda Civic with 1.0-litre Turbo-Petrol Motor Introduced in China
Honda has introduced the All New Civic in the Chinese market with a 1.0-Litre powerplant. Dongfeng Honda which is a 50:50 joint venture between Chinas Dongfeng Motor Corp and Honda Motor Company for the Chinese market introduced the New Civic 180Turbo at the Guangzhou Auto Show last week. The Honda Civic 180Turbo will be available with manual and CVT Automatic transmission options to choose from. Appearance wise the Civic 1.0T looks identical to the larger engine 1.5-litre turbo version except for minor changes to it. The larger 1.5-litre engined Civic comes badged as 220Turbo while the 1.0 gets the 180Turbo badge on it.
The 1.0-litre Civic comes with halogen projector headlights and drives on 16 inche wheels with 215/55 tyre profile. The power plant driving this car is a 1.0-litre three cylinder turbocharged engine also known as P10A1 that makes around a healthy 125PS and has around 173Nm of torque under its belt. Key engine dynamics include a high-tumble intake port, a high efficiency cooling cylinder head, piston with cooling gallery, sodium filled exhaust valves as well as a variable capacity oil pump, and the unit features an idling stop system to aid fuel economy.
This tiny yet powerful engine can be best compared to Ford’s award winning 1.0-Litre EcoBoost engine that is also its closest competitor. On the performance side this turbo motor can propel the Civic 180Turbo from zero to 100kmph in 11.3 seconds with a top speed of 200 kmph which should make this an extremely sweet driver’s delight motor. In China, the Honda Civic Turbo is more generously equipped, as it comes with Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System, Forward Collision Warning, LED headlights and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Furthermore, the Chinese variant also gets 6 airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and VSA.
