Honda has unveiled the hatchback version of the best seller City sedan in Thailand. The cute and trendy looking City Hatch is based on the same platform as the latest generation City that currently sells in India.

Also the City Hatch shares mostly all the body panels till the C-pillar with the City sedan which should also be a good reason that Honda should consider it for the Indian market.

In terms of exteriors as mentioned the front and side profiles are identical to the City sedan while the rear features stylish looking horizontally placed tail lights, short over hang with a rounded boot lid. Also included in the styling of the rear profile is the vertically placed faux air vents and a contrasting rear diffuser along with a very well designed rear bumper. The City Hatch looks very well proportioned and oozes tons of road presence.

On the inside the Honda City Hatch comes with similar cabin styling like the City Sedan, again using the same parts bin which should give one more reason for Honda to get it here. What is extra on the Hatch version of the City is the 40:60 folding rear seats which would increase the boot space when needed.

If Honda launches the City Hatch here in India it will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross to a large extent and then we would have to see if they continue to sell the Jazz or not. But for now we are keeping our fingers crossed hoping that the friendly blokes at Honda Cars India do the magic and get the gorgeously sporty looking City Hatch here. Time to get be wishful!
