It maybe recalled that Benelli is re-entering India for its 2nd innings and has now tied up with Hyderabad-based Mahavir Group’s Adishwar Auto Ride International (AARI).
Benelli had first showcased the TRK 502 at the 2016 Auto Expo when DSK Auto we’re partners with the Italian motorcycle brand for India. The delay caused so far was due to the change of the Indian partners from DSK to AARI.
From what we see the l Benelli TRK 502 looks like a proper adventure tourer sporting front beak, high windshield, flat handlebar with standard hand guards and a large 20-litre fuel tank. Front suspension is an adjustable 50 mm upside down fork with 135 mm of travel, while a spring preload adjustable monoshock with 45 mm travel does duty as the rear suspension. Front wheel seen on the test mule are the 19-inch aluminium spoked ones basically for off-road while there also will be an option of 17-inch aluminium alloys.
The braking duties are taken care by Twin semi-floating 320 mm discs aided with four-piston calipers on the front wheel while the rear wheel gets a single 260 mm disc with a single-piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS will be standard.
The Benelli TRK 502 comes powered with 499.6 cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine which hits out 47 bhp @ 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 45 Nm @ 5,000 rpm mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle has a gross weight of 213kgs making it a nimble middle weight adventure touring motorcycle.
For start Benelli will import CKD units of the TRK 502 into India but if the demand increases the localization levels can be increased. We expect the Benelli TRK 502 to be priced between the ₹5.75 Lakh- ₹6.50 Lakh and for a early 2019 launch.
