EXCLUSIVE – Spotted 250cc Benelli Cruiser MotoBi-250
Earlier this year, Benelli promised us a couple of new launches lined up for this year for India. They recently launched the 302 Tornado, and the next launch predicted from Benelli is the MotoBi-250. Recently, a production ready test mule was spotted testing in Pune on the Pune-Bangalore Highway by our alert reader Akash Kamble. Here are the exclusive spy shot images that he managed to click on the go.
The MotoBi-250 is a existing product that Benelli currently offers in Indonesia. It is powered by a 2 valve liquid cooled parallel twin engine that is mated to a 5-speed gearbox fueled by a Carburettor. It produces just 13 kW of Power and 16.5 Nm of Torque; being a parallel twin, the figures are disappointing. To make it a better offering in future, Benelli might swap the 250cc mill with the existing 300cc mill from the 300tnt with a retuned setup. This mill is loaded on a Bassinet type Chassis frame.
The test mule spotted was equipped with a Single disk brake on the front, and Drum brake setup on the rear. Clearly, ABS will be missing, which is quite surprising, since by law, ABS shall be mandatory on all bikes above 150cc from 2018. The fuel tank provided on the model on sale in Indonesia has a capacity of 14 litres, we don’t think Benelli would make any alterations into the design aspect of the bike. It weighs around 145 kgs, and has a wheelbase of 1460mm.
It is currently sold in Indonesia at a price tag of Rp 35,600,000 Jakarta, which is approximately 1.70 Lakh INR. We expect that, DSK will launch it soon in the similar price range mostly in the festive season. Noteworthy the MotoBi-250 will be Benellis first cruiser model for our market. Currently there is not much competition for this cruiser except for the Hyosung Aquila 250 Pro which again hails from the same DSK family in India. Watch this space for more info on the MotoBi-250 soon.
