Daimler India Commercial Vehicles launch their BS-6 range of Bharat Benz Commercial Vehicles
Over a dozen medium and heavy duty trucks and buses were on display in their all neww BS6 avatar . Pre bookings are open and will be introduced in more regions as per the availability of BS6 fuel
Speaking about the launch , Mr.Satyakram Arya , MD & CEO DICV said,” The new BharatBenz ranger offers indian customers the solution they need for the future , setting new benchmarks for medium and heavy duty trucks with improved fuel efficiency , safety and connectivity . Going away we are going to shift our focus from tonnage and focus on customized solutions for different applications.”
With BSVI Daimler’s new range comes with a package of technology they call “ Profit technology +” ensuring industry leading fuel efficiency, safety , comfort and reliability. Bharatbenz is aiming at “the best truck for every need” implying their focus on custom options rather than traditional tonnage classifications. Digitalization – Amongst the key tech showcased was Proserv , its customer service digital platform and the new telematics solutions “truckonnect” and “busconnect” which will help operators and fleet owners keep track of and analyse their vehicles in real time.
Other than the digital upgrades the new range also gets a bold and stylish design which comes with a distinctive front grille and a bumper spoiler , air suspended seats , soft cruise control which helps maintain a constant speed hence improving fuel efficiency. The new instrument cluster will also come with gear indicator. Bharatbenz buses will come with new future ready electrical and electronic architecture “ETec” that offers an advanced human interface, easy fault detection, chassis body CAN interface and next gen electronics .
Bus Connect will cater to the driver as well as the passengers , enabling passengers to select routes , track the bus , access onboard entertainment and also earn reward miles. Operators and fleet owners will get summaries and dashboards with reports that will improve management.
BharatBenz trucks and buses will be powered by the OM926 engine and 4D34i . The key differentiator in technology will be the after treatment standard warranty and industry best extended warranty upto 8 years . The trucks are supposed to have a service interval 20 percent longer than the outgoing range and a reduced maintainance cost of upto 6 percent less. DICV invested around INR 500 crores , developed new facilities and over 1000 new parts for BSVI with a localisation percentage above 80.
In addition to completing over 5.2 million kms of BSVI testing in India, DICV is also gearing up its after sales network with learning from other markets and continues to spread with over 235 customer touch points available nationwide currently.
