Boreas wants to take the hyper-car path to glory

Boreas, the Spanish company wants to be seen itself as a competitor to the Swedish performance car maker Koenigsegg.

A boutique car company from Spain, Boreas, wants to do something that will grab the attention of the entire automobile fraternities worldwide. So, what does it plan to do? Design and develop not just a super car but a hyper car which generates power north of 1000 HP of course!

The company has been named after the Greek God of the North Wind and the Bringer of Winter, Boreas. The hyper car in discussion has been disclosed to have 1000+ HP (745 kilowatts) internal combustion engine that will be supplemented by a hybrid powertrain. It has also been revealed that the on-board batteries have juice enough to provide a pure electric range of approximately 62 miles or 100 kilometers.

The Spanish company is taking the help from engineering company DSD Design and Motorsport to design and manufacture its hyper car while its mysterious powertrain is getting developed with close collaboration with a big name in the industry. A spokesman revealed “we are quite avant-garde with the use of materials and their application,” so that was likely a hint the hyper car will use a lot of carbon fiber and other light components to keep weight as low as possible.

To appreciate the story that Boreas had 12 sons and daughters, the company is capping the production of its yet to be named hyper car to just 12 units. Each unit will sport a bespoke specification tailored to the customer’s specification. The company has also revealed that all the 12 units have already been pre-sold and that company is turning away other interested customers.

More light shall be thrown on to the project on June 14th when the Boreas will be revealed at the Le Mans. The hyper car will first debut at the Michelin pavilion before it also takes part at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month on 29th.

To create buzz around the Boreas, the people behind this project have also released a teaser video. The video gives glimpse of the cars exterior with a prominent front spoiler lip and a short overhang. The heavily sloped roofline is also an indication that the car is going to be a two-seater.
