BMW had created quite some ripples in the market and in the competition with the launch of sporty ‘M’ versions of its mainstream BMW X5 and X6 SUVs. While Mercedes does have the G63 AMG SUV, the BMW X5 and X6 SUVs are more convenient to use for an everyday SUV and that is where BMW has hit the nail on its head. With the ‘M’ badge, the BMW X5 and X6 are both mainstream SUVs and also true blue sporty in their own right!
To make the product propositions even more attractive, BMW has now released the Black Fire editions of its BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M SUVs. This edition is more of a visual upgrade to the already stunning looking SUVs from the BMW stable. The SUVs drape a shade of black in Sapphire Black metallic with exclusive furnishing details for both the exteriors and the interiors.
The BMW’s signature kidney grille gets the unique black fire treatment with black bars inside those grilles. The 21 inch M alloys too get a shade of black while the mirror caps get an unique carbon fibre finish to highlight the lightweight design of both the models.
Enter the cabin and you will be wowed by the use of black and red inside. You get a fully electric M multifunctional seats with integrated headrests as standard. The seats sport a full fine-grain Merino leather finish in contrasting Black and Mugello red. The seats also feature contrasting red seams on the full leather upholstery, which also includes the central console.
The central console on the other hand is finished in piano black which makes it look particularly classy while the either sides of the console are finished in M red to bring back balance with the sporty touch. Multifunction M badged steering wheel with aluminium paddle shifters are standard while BMW is also throwing in an option of choosing BMW M performance Alcantara steering wheel with light blue leather motorsport accent.
Coming to the mills doing the duty, both the models feature a 4.4 litre V8 engine with 575 HP power output mated to a standard 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox. 0 to 100 kmph is dispatched in just 4.2 seconds while the iDrive four wheel rear wheel biased system takes care of the agility quotient.
While the prices of both the models have not yet been released, the availability is scheduled to start from August 2017.
