BMW launches the first electric sedan BMW i5 M60 xDrive at Rs. 1.20 crore
BMW has launched the first ever electric sedan the BMW i5 xDrive in Gurgaon, pricing at 1,19,50,000 (ex-showroom) and will be available at all BMW dealerships across India as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) model will be available today onwards.
The i5 undergoes a striking transformation with a newly designed front illuminated kidney grille and adaptive LED headlights, complemented by impressive 20-inch high-gloss black M light alloy wheels. As the sportiest trim in BMW’s lineup, the M60 model comes standard with the M Sport Pro package, featuring enlarged front air intakes, flared side skirts, rear diffusers, red brake calipers, and high-gloss inserts throughout, ensuring both eye-catching style and enhanced performance.
Powertrain-wise, the i5 boasts an 81.2kWh battery pack, coupled with a twin-motor setup for an AWD configuration. Together, these motors produce an impressive 600bhp and 795Nm of torque. With a claimed 0-100kmph time of just 3.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 230kmph. Additionally, it promises a claimed range of 516km on a single charge, highlighting its efficiency and long-distance capabilities.
The interiors of the new BMW i5 showcases a modern cockpit layout featuring a curved display with the latest OS 8.5 operating system as standard. Carbon-fiber trims accentuate the interior, complemented by a full-size glass roof for an expansive feel. Audiophiles will appreciate the premium 18-speaker 655W Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system. The cabin exudes sportiness with an M-specific leather-wrapped steering wheel, while comfort is prioritized with ventilated seats. A highlight is the in-car gaming experience offered by the AirConsole feature. On the hardware front, the i5 is equipped with a heads-up display, augmented reality integrated into the MID, ADAS for added safety, adaptive suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, integral active steering, and a comprehensive six-airbag system.
The i5 M60 xDrive offers a choice of eight color options, along with four BMW Individual paintwork options. Inside, the standard interior trim features carbon fiber accents, with upholstery options including Alcantara. Optional upgrades include Veganza and Merino leather upholstery.
BMW’s safety features include six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting, and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.
