Piaggio India today unveiled its 2 new offerings under the Aprilia brand, the SR125 and the Aprilia Storm. Both the scooters will come with a 125cc 3-valve mill but will differ in design and riding aspects. The SR125 will come with the same 14-inch rims with tubeless tyres while the Storm, targeted specifically at the Gen Z, will come with smaller 12-inch rims with broad tyres. Both the models come with Front Disk brakes and Rear Drum brakes.
Both the models share the same long seat with raised grab handles, though the Storm looks much more rugged, raw and will definitely woo the young breed of scooter riders. Though Piaggio has disappointed us in terms of features and practicality, especially after the launch of the TVS NTORQ 125, which is a performance scooter priced at 58,750/- and comes with features like A digital instrument cluster with 55 features and LED headlamps and DRLs.
Piaggio also unveiled its innovative mobile connectivity App, which allows the rider to connect with his Vespa or Aprilia scooter. The app provides features like find, navigate and follow their bikes, comes equipped with features like a Panic Alert button, where riders can directly call a registered number with the current location details sent by SMS, moreover the customer can also contact customer care services directly via the app.
It will be interesting to see how the Aprilia twins fare, especially loosing the first mover advantage to TVS, Honda and Hero Motocorp, especially when the Aprilia twins are priced at somewhere above Rs 65,000.. and its competitors much below it.
