Hyundai has been busy testing the latest generation of its best selling Santa Fe SUV. The Korean company was recently spotted testing its Santa Fe mule on the tracks of Nurburgring. The rains and a resulting wet track did not deter the SUV as it was spotted speeding around the track multiple times.
The vehicle in question seems to be the same test mule which was spotted a couple of times earlier doing rounds in Europe and it looks like nothing much has changed since then.
The body should have been heavily redesigned as Hyundai has taken huge pain to cover the entire car with a heavy camouflage and prevent us from spotting its new styling. We already know that it will sport two separate sets of headlights on each side of the grille. The latest generation Santa Fe should also have a much larger footprint than the outgoing model. This should result in adding to even more space inside and the current generation is not exactly compact either.
Hyundai is planning to launch the new generation Santa Fe in both five seater and seven seater configuration, depending on the demand and the market, probably under different monikers.
Needless to say, Hyundai will launch the latest model of Santa Fe with an assortment of engines to choose from. While the gasoline favouring US should get atleast three petrol options, Hyundai might thrown in a couple of GDi diesels to cater to requirements of the rest of the world as well. Going by the latest trends, Hyundai should also be offering a plug-in hybrid variant in select markets for eco conscious customers. Expect Hyundai to launch the SUV in both FWD and AWD layouts.
While there is not much information regarding the reveal date, Hyundai should probably launch the SUV into the market late next year.
