Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 unveils, most premium SUV ever from the German brand

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled their best ever SUV the Maybach GLS S600 at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China. This now becomes the first SUV from the Maybach brand which is the ultra luxury label from the German car maker Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes Maybach GLS S600 can be compared to a luxury jetliner in terms of premium comfort it offers. In terms of styling the Maybach GLS has a super imposing stance with massive body dimensions. The front end gets an unique and different looking premium chromed waterfall grille and mesh inserts also along the lower part of the bumper.

The extra large sized Maybach grill comes with vertical chrome slats. The smart looking three pointed star Mercedes-Benz logo sits upright on the edge of the bonnet. There is loads of chrome used all over which included thick chunks on the B-pillars while the prestigious Maybach emblems sits on the D-pillars that makes this SUV stand out from others. The Maybach GLS can also be got in a two-tone paint job at an extra cost.

The other unique feature on the exterior of the Mercedes Maybach S600 is the massive 6.8 foot long footboard that automatically deploys and retracts after a second as the passenger opens or closes the doors. The tyres comes with multi-spoke alloys with upto 23 inch of Tyre size available on option. Thick chrome strips run along the window frame and also across the boot lid area and across the lower rear and front bumpers.

On the insides the cabin is styled with Uber luxury all around. The cavernous interior area is made to best use with only two rows of seats. There is no third row available as the second row is pushed back and as a result tons of space is made available to the passengers. The Maybach GLS 600 gets business class-like seats that come with features like heating, ventilation, massaging and reclining.

The Maybach GLS is mostly going to be chauffeur-driven and hence the passengers traveling in the back get infotainment system with wireless headphones, folding tablets, wireless device chargers, plus heated and cooled cupholders. You also have the option of getting the Maybach GLS as a five-seater that comes with a three passenger seat in the second row instead of the massive center panel that comes in the two passenger seating version.

Powering the Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is the monstrous twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 engine from the Mercedes lineup. This engine makes 550hp between 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and generates 730Nm of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. There also is the 48-Volt mild hybrid system that adds another 21Hp of power to the overall output. This intelligent hybrid system also sends the kinetic energy it recuperates to the battery pack while braking or coasting.

The SUV comes with 4MATIC and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 can do 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds and has a limited top speed of 250kmph. Other features include Airmatic suspension, E-Active Body Control.

The Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 will be Made in Alabama USA and will be arriving in the global showrooms by the end of 2020. Mercedes Benz India has not yet stated when the Uber premium SUV would be reaching our shores. Pricing hasn’t been released yet too. When the Maybach GLS 600 arrives it will rival the likes of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Bentley Bentayga.
