24 Countries…11,000 kms… 72 days… 3 courageous Rotorians… 1 Tata Hexa
The Tata Hexa with three women Rotarians – Meenakshi Aravind, Mookambika Rathinam and Priya Rajpal completed an exciting expedition from Coimbatore to London, covering 24 countries and 11,134 kms in a span of 72 days. With an endeavor to raise funds for the Rotary India Literacy Mission and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Indian Independence, they embarked on this expedition. The vehicle of choice for their epic journey was the Tata Hexa which comes with a combination of great on road comfort and impressive off road ability. The SUV/MPV cross successfully handled the tough terrains and uninhabited zones through the route.
The trio covered an average of 400 kms each day and was equipped with accessories like a roof platform, a canopy, luggage bags, high lift jack, shovel, jerry can, a navigation unit and a wireless charger; features that are available off the showroom floor as well for Tata customers. The variant chosen for the trip was the range topping manual version mated to the Borg-Warner all wheel drive system. This variant also gets various drive modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Rough Road. The engine powering this car is a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel that develops 156 HP and 400 Nm.
The Tata Hexa gets some unique features on the insides like a touchscreen infotainment system with support for a variety of apps, Bluetooth, USB, Satellite Navigation, 320-watt 10 speaker JBL sound system and ambient lighting with 8 different colour options. It is also offered with a 6-seat layout aimed towards providing more comfort to its occupants, rather than a traditional 7-seat layout. Safety features include 2 airbags and ABS as standard on all variants and 6 airbags, TCS and ESP specific to the top end XT trim.
