The 2017 Honda City will bring back the ‘ZX’ moniker and is expected to launch in India by the end of January.
Honda Car India has just revealed the City facelift for the Thai market and is all set to debut in India very soon. The 2017 Honda City gets a new front end with a Civic-like front grille and LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The rest of the design remains quite familiar with the only differentiators being new 16-inch alloy wheels and LED taillamps. There is a boot mounted spoiler with a centrally mounted LED stop light. Lower variants of the new City will get new design wheel covers while the ZX will continue to offer a sunroof.
On the insides, the 2017 Honda City will get a slightly bigger 6.8-inch touchscreen navigation system that supports Android Auto and MirroLink. This infotainment system has been co-developed with Blaupunkt and features voice guidance for navigation. The ZX variant will get a soft touch dashboard and leather upholstery on the steering wheel and the gear lever. The 2017 Honda City will continue to be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine that develops 118 PS and 100 PS respectively. The petrol will continue to offer a CVT automatic and a 5-speed manual, while the diesel will only come with a 6-speed manual.
The top spec variant of the new City will come with 6 airbags, while 2 airbags and ABS is standard across all the variants. The 2017 Honda City will compete with the upcoming Volkswagen Vento Highline Plus which will also offer LED headlamps. The car will be priced slightly higher than the current model. We also hope that the new car comes with an automatic gearbox on the diesel variants as the Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento are the only ones in its class to offer one.
