Amidst the paparazzi and the high society of Goa, Bavaria Motors, one of the earliest partners of BMW India launched the all new 2017 BMW 5-Series. This is the 7th generation of the luxury sedan and competes with the likes of the Mercedes Benz E-Class LWB, Volvo S90, Jaguar XF and Audi A6. The BMW 5-Series is based on the 7-Series and is a one hell of a tech fest. It gets all the latest gesture controls from its elder sibling and also boasts of the Remote Control Parking with BMW display key. Some of the other features on the new 5-Series are Park Distance Control, Parking Assistant, Surround View Camera and Wireless Charging.
The new 2017 BMW 5-Series looks like an evolution of the previous generation car. There are adaptive LED headlights while the overall design looks a lot more athletic. This also goes with the tagline of the new 5-Series, “Business Athelete”. On the inside too, the design looks evolutionary but indeed feels of very high quality. The BMW 530i and 520d in SportLine trim is priced at Rs. 49.90 lakhs, while the 520d in LuxuryLine trim will cost Rs. 53.60 lakhs. The range topping 530d M-Sport has been priced at Rs. 61.30 lakhs.
The 2017 BMW 5-Series as mentioned above will be available with 3 engine options – 2.0-litre petrol with 245 PS and 350 Nm, 2.0-litre diesel with 190 PS and 400 Nm, and a 3.0-litre diesel with 262 PS and 620 Nm. All engines come mated to a 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. In addition, there are various drive modes to choose from – Comfort, Sport, Sport+, ECO PRO and the new Adaptive mode. The standard warranty of 2 years on the car can be extended up to 6 years with no mileage restriction with various optional service packages that the company is offering.
