2016 BMW 5-Series Launched With A New Petrol Engine
BMW India has launched the 5-series sedan with a new entry level petrol engine. The new 520i is priced at Rs. 54 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi and will be imported as a completely built up unit (CBU).
Just when you thought the BMW 5-series was getting long in the tooth, the company has given it a new lease of life with the introduction of a new petrol variant. The new 520i variant is priced at Rs. 54 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi and comes with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor that develops 184 BHP of max power and 270Nm of torque from as low as 1,250 RPM. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 233 kmph. The engine features a twin scroll turbocharger that provides top end performance as well as low end responsiveness.
With BMW EfficientDynamics, the BMW 520i comes packed with technology to reduce fuel consumption and increase driving dynamics such as Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, 50:50 Weight Distribution and many more. It also comes equipped with BMW ConnectedDrive which features a multifunction instrument display, next generation BMW iDrive with 25.9 cm color display, BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps (integrated Global Positioning System-GPS), Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, BMW Apps, Park Distance Control, Rear View Camera and Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices.
The new BMW 520i is be available in Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork, and Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect as metallic paint options. It is available in the Luxury Line trim that has exclusive chrome features at the front and rear including kidney grille, side window frames and tailpipe trim, ‘Luxury’ badge on front side panel and car key. The interior also comes layered in leather with the option of brown, beige and oyster shades. It also gets splashes of wood trim on the dashboard and door pads too.
